The solution is this: get the head of each department in the institute pick a single popular, wholesome freshman put into a mandatory course where they teach these hand-picked minds of tomorrow about self-reflection. As they grow in their self-awareness, understanding will disseminate through the department by osmosis on the understanding of the very discipline! Like butter.

I think it would be fairly difficult to pry RPI students from their laptops, let alone trying to convince them that it is a useful exercise.

It would be interesting to see how many students would be willing though. If Professors were interested, an incentive for students could be a modification to lecture curriculum for that week or something.

How much do you think it would take to convince RPI students to do a laptop free week (as distinct from computer free)? I'm imagining something students could opt into doing, but you'd have to speak with professors to make sure laptop-necessitated work wasn't required that week.

Haha, thanks for the thought, I appreciate it. Also, you should know that this niche is far from untouched. Algorithmic music has been in development for centuries; Algorithmic computer music, since the resources were available..

Awesome stuff. Really inspiring watching you grow into such a specialized, yet untouched niche. Obligatory, no homo.

I actually haven't been using this script too often recently. I've switched to using "Socialite" to update Twitter, and I have a ruby script that updates my Adium status to whatever is on Twitter every 30 mins or so.
